We heart the library!
Marin and I discovered the library a couple of weeks ago. Actually Eric went with us as well. He wanted to see if they had up to date computer books (geek!). But Marin and I loved looking through all the books and picking out a few to take home. We also found the DVDs they had. Marin decided on Disney’s The Fox and The Hound. I let her watch it by herself because I can’t watch those sad movies. Don’t like Old Yelller or Where the Red Fern Grows either. Too depressing! So anyway, we have already read the books so we’ll be due back for another visit to the library soon. They are building a brand new library close to our house. Wylie has this huge project they are doing to build a new city hall with a recreational area and the library is going to be moved there as well. They are estimating it to be done by late spring next year. Our neighborhood has two empty lots where we thought the city was going to build us a park but instead they keep telling our HOA that they are going to just build a bridge/walkway to the new complex where we could just walk to the new recreational area or library. That was the plan proposed last year but we still haven’t heard anything else about it. That would be pretty cool if we could just walk over there from our house.
Marin started ballet last night. I asked Eric if he wanted to go and watch her first class with me. He asked if they have wifi there…so I told him nevermind. She did really well and did everything she was told to do. She really enjoyed it and had a smile from ear to ear on the ride home.
Marin was going to be Snow White for Halloween this year but now here lately she has been obsessed with Princess Jasmine from the Aladdin movie. So she told me last night that she wants to be Jasmine for Halloween. When I told her I already bought the shoes to go with her Snow White costume she was not excited. I can easily return the shoes and we already have so many dress-up costumes I bought at a garage sale for $1 each so no big deal. We have the Jasmine costume (it’s basically a genie costume) so I am not upset about it. I told her I would start looking for some shoes that will go with it and once I find them she cannot change her mind again. She was very adamant that Jasmine would be her final choice so I am going to hold her to that.
We are going to Vegas again in October…don’t judge.
I remember when it was pretty cheap to go to Vegas. Now the flights alone cost us almost $700 for both me and Eric and that is flying out of Houston. Dallas was even more expensive than that. Crazy! So we decided since my parents are babysitting Marin while we go we would just drive to Diboll and drop her off and drive to Houston to catch a flight. Jason and Jackie are meeting us out there and Eric’s mom has decided to go so it should be a lot of fun!
Babies, Babies & More Babies!
Babies are everywhere! This has been a summer filled with new babies. My friend, Christy, who lives in Arizona had her little boy in June so I went to visit her a few weeks ago and meet the little guy. Another friend of ours had twins recently and we got to visit them last Tuesday. Then Wednesday night Darren and Kelli had their baby girl and we went to visit them Saturday. My brother had their fifth child Thursday night. It’s crazy!! But it’s so much fun shopping for baby stuff. There are so many cute baby things out on the market.
Marin had a few rough weeks recently. She had strep for a few days and had to go to the doctor and get a shot. That was an experience as she screamed bloody murder when they stuck it in her leg. Then a week after we got rid of the strep she had some type of stomach bug and she was up a good portion of the night throwing up. She was fine the next day after we gave her pedialyte and crackers but we were exhausted from being up all night so I worked from home and Eric took a sick day to recoup.
She starts ballet class again next Monday. Now that she is a little older I am hoping she takes direction a little better and doesn’t just run around the room like she did last year. Since she already has the uniform from last time all I have to buy is ballet shoes since her feet have grown a bit. I have to keep reminding myself to get that done before Monday.
It’s been a hot summer and we are only halfway through August. This triple digit heat is getting to me. I’d like to take Marin to the park or something but it is unbearable outside and even with the sun goes down the humidity is still horrible. I am counting down the days until fall season begins. It’s my favorite time of the year. I think October is my favorite month of the year. Our anniversary is that month, the weather starts to cool down and I love Halloween time.
We have procrastinated painting the guest room. I wanted to paint it ages ago when we first bought the house but all the other rooms took priority. When we painted Eric’s office several months ago I decided I would paint the guest room also but we got busy and put it off again. I am now adamant that I need to paint it before I just give up and it never gets done. So in the upcoming weeks that is my goal. After discussing it with Eric he only got excited about doing it after I mentioned I would like a two tone wall with wood trim around the room. He immediately decided we needed a miter saw and jumped on the computer to find one. He found one on Craigslist that was in great condition. Brand new it would cost $120 but he got this one for $60. Now we’ll just wait and see if he can get the trim cut and installed correctly.
